16 Things You Must Leave in 2016

Can you believe that 2016 is almost to an end? I know I can't. It feels like just yesterday I moved back to Charlotte to experience all the new things my hometown had to offer, and now I am searching for a NYE look, WOW!  Anywhoo, as the new year quickly approaches, I began to think back on the year.

I experienced a lot of wins during the year of 2016; a new job, developing a new brand, relaunching my personal brand, building closer relationships with friends and family, paying off my credit cards and finding an awesome mentor (shout out to @Melissa Chanel). Now, while I had some wins this year, there were definitely some losses too. However, instead of dwelling on the past and bringing that negativity into the future, I thought it would be better to leave them all in 2016. As Guwop himself said, "If you keep looking back, you gone trip going forward!"

So, I decided to put together a list of 16 things you MUST leave in 2016 in hopes of helping you have a new year filled with positive vibes, blessings and happiness! So, here it goes:

1. Negativity

As humans, it's easy for us to be negative when things don't go as planned. However, negative thinking has an immediate, unhealthy impact on your life. Not only can it cause you to feel worse about a situation, but being negative can also hinder you from achieving the things that you really want to do. You have to train your mind to be positive and know that negativity gets you no where.

2. Financial Instability

Being broke was only okay during college. As adults, living and preparing for your future costs money. So budget, spend wisely but most importantly save. Seriously, save before it's too late! Only use credit cards for emergency and to build credit, not to build debit. Don't be afraid to seek help via your bank or a financially responsible friend if you need it!

3. Poor Decision Making

Remember, every decision yields a consequence. So, think strategically before you make a move, take your time and don't act off impulse!

4. Unhealthy Relationships

Breaking ties with people is never an easy thing to do, especially when they've been in your life for some time. But why keep them around if they aren't adding value to your life and just making it complicated? Of course, it may be hard at first, but know you're doing yourself a favor in the end! Get rid of any unhealthy relationship sooner than later because the longer you wait the harder it will become.

5. Complacency

We all have dreams and aspirations; yet, things don't always come as easy as we'd like. But, that's the fun part. You owe it to yourself to give it your all and see where it takes you. You'll never know where you could end up if you settle, so don't!

6. Unneeded Stress

The accumulated stresses of everyday life can damage your health in irreversible ways, if you let it; So, why stress when you don't have to? If there are things in your life that bring about stress and don't add any value, you must get rid of it immediately. Take up yoga or speak to someone about your problems, it will definitely help!

7. Stubbornness

We all have things that we don't want to do in life. Sometimes, those things can be bad for us but, sometimes they can actually be beneficial. Don't get stuck in your ways because you never know what blessing can come out of it.

8. Self Doubt

Doubting yourself creates negative self think. You have to believe in yourself before anyone else will. Know that you are powerful beyond measure and anything you set our mind to can be achieved with hard work and determination!

9. Inconsistency

With anything in life, you will never see the results you want if you aren't consistent. Stick to whatever it is your doing and never give up.

10. Fear

Fear is for the non-believer. Psalms 23:4 said it best, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;..." Knowing that you have God on your side, should give you all the courage you need!

11. Unhealthy Lifestyle

Your body is your temple and you should treat it as such. Be mindful of the things you eat and the products you use because they all have an effect on your body. Remember, staying healthy is all a mental game, 80% nutrition and 20% fitness. While the gym may not be for some, YouTube and the internet will do just fine!

12. Not supporting your Friends

A true friend supports no matter what. Whether it be dealing with a career move, relationships or personal decisions. You can't expect the support if you don't reciprocate it.

13. Bad Habits

We all have bad habits, so don't think you're alone on this one. However, bad habits can turn into bigger problems if you don't take the time to eliminate them out your life. Going cold turkey may work for some, but for others taking it one day at a time is the best way to tackle any habit. Remember, it only takes 21 days to break a habit!

14. Regrets

Never second guess the things that occur or the decision you make in life. No matter the outcome, know that everything happens for a reason! Learn from it, grown from it and move on!

15. Comparing Yourself to Others

Everyone's story is different, so comparing yourself to the next is ridiculous. While Instagram may show the wins and look as if everything may have came easy, just know that they too had a few failures and long nights. What's meant for you, God will not let pass you by. Your time is coming, don't worry. Just be patient.

16. Not Being Able to Forgive

A lot of times it's easier to just stay mad about how someone treated you instead of forgiving them. The statement "I'll forgive but I won't forget" really means : I don't forgive you but I'll say that I do just to squash the situation for now, only to bring it back up next week. You have to understand that people will do your wrong, its life. But it shows maturity when you can forgive and truly forget.

I want to thank everyone who helped me compile this list. (You know who you are) I asked you all because you all have contributed to my life in 2016 in some way. Not only do I value your opinions but, I appreciate you! So, thank you! To all my subscribers, casual readers and first timers, thank you for taking the time to come check out my post. I hope I was able to sprinkle some inspiration on you today that you can truly apply to your life.

Remember, we all are put here for a purpose and in order for us to achieve that purpose we have to get rid of anything that may hinder us. So, don't be afraid!  As we turn the last few pages of 2016 and close that chapter of our lives, smile, because the best is yet to come!

Love always, krys <3
