The Key to a Good Workout!
Since 2014, when I moved to Savannah, GA after college, I've been a fan of working out. Whether we were trying to get right for a girls trip or a romantic baecation, my friends and I were constantly in and out of the gym. Being in Savannah with no friends and no real social life, all I did was go to work, workout, then go home. I was in the gym at least 4 days out of the week and each day, I was going hard. Not to mention, I was going through a crazy breakup at the time so my intentions were to "glo" up real quick and make my ex jealous. Yeahhh, don't judge me, I'm sure you've had a glo up plan as well lol. Well, although my intentions were wrong, I soon began to really fall in love with the gym and my body started to change for the better.
In 2016, when I moved back to Charlotte, NC. I started to gain my social life back, and slowly but surely working out became more of a job instead of a normal day to day activity. I found myself so busy with events, girls night and relaxing, that working out went to the bottom of the priority list. While the scale didn't show it, physically, I started to lose the definition I had worked so hard to get while in Savannah. Eventually, one day after not being happy with how an outfit looked, I snapped back into reality and promised myself that that day forward working out was a non-negotiable priority. I started meal prepping again and focusing more on eating clean. I eliminated a lot of things from my diet that weren't beneficial and I slowly started to see Krys coming back to her Savannah self.
Now, lets fast forward to me living in New York City. Although I'm in a new city, I still have the mentality that working out and staying in shape is important. While I didn't have a job lined up when I first arrived, a gym membership was a must have. I began to do research and weigh my options and then the unthinkable happened. While going in to sign up for what I thought was my membership, God allowed me to get offered a job, which meant I could workout for FREE! Crazy, right? I've been able to workout one on one with dope trainers, I've perfected my form and the best part that we all love is that I'm actually seeing results.
In today's society, where people my age are constantly dying from unhealthy lifestyles, I strive to lead by example. Every time I go to the gym, I post an accountability snap or picture to show others that even though my schedule is hectic, I still find time to workout. Don't get me wrong there are days when I'm like, "nah bruh not today!" But, I try to not make that habit. Yes, working out is a commitment. But, once you make that commitment into a lifestyle and have fun with it, working out becomes a lot easier.

One way that I love to have fun with my workout is by listening to good music. According to a Huffington Post article entitled "7 Reasons You Should Listen to Music When You Workout", listening to music not only elevates your mood but it's a great way to stay focused and it helps you push yourself to achieve your goals while working out. I don't know about you but, my current playlist is filled with upbeat hip hop and I could honestly listen to it all day through my Wireless Beats Headphones. Dave East helps me reach that extra mile on the treadmill, while Young Dolph and Gucci Mane help me to squat 15 reps instead of 10! With September being National Self-Care Awareness Month, I wanted to do my part and hopefully motivate you to start caring more for your body, by working out!
